Today Pastor Reggie and I went to the church to prepare some sandwiches for the 2fsh5lvs homeless ministry outreach on Sunday. On my way home I stopped at the Shoprite to get some groceries for home. Typically when I travel or make stops within Perth Amboy, I run into one or another of my two favorite homeless. Today it was both, the one who calls me father (thinks I'm a priest) and the other who spent some time at our church on Sundays awhile back.
One of them asked about how we've been managing church services. I said Zoom and YouTube. Using his phone he looks up Calvary Chapel Perth Amboy on YouTube, subscribes and tells me that it's set. He explained that whenever we go livestream, it pops up on his phone and he can watch the service. I didn't know that was possible. Maybe he gets a notification or something but I must say, he was pretty excited about it.
On my way home I couldn't help but be amazed at the resourcefulness of people when they want to hear the word of God. No matter what condition you may find yourself in, God's word is Available. This man may be short on financial means but he is long on desire for the truth.
My hope is that you are encouraged as I was by this encounter.
